Google Nexus 2016 release date, specs rumors: Google to launch smartphones on Oct 4?

The rumor mill has churned several speculations about the Google Nexus 2016 smartphones.Previously, reports have suggested that HTC spearheaded the project and developed two smartphones codenamed Sailfish and Marlin. The smartphones will reportedly be launched as a brand new line under Pixel.

Reports said that Google will launch the smartphones along with a 4K Chromecast device on Tuesday, Oct. 4.

Sources said the smartphones will still be produced by HTC but it will be called Pixel and the Pixel XL. The former will have a 5-inch screen while the latter will feature a slightly wider 5.5-inch display.

Pixel will reportedly have a metal body while a glass panel will decorate the top rear portion of the device. It will be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor which has 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory.

Meanwhile, the Pixel XL will have speakers at the bottom of the device and a fingerprint scanner at its rear. The device will use a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset which has 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB or 128 GB of internal memory. If Google goes with the alleged processor, these smartphones will be among the fastest Android smartphones.

The 5.5-inch Pixel XL display will boast a 2560x1440 pixel resolution Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode display. The phone will have a 12-MP camera and an 8-MP front camera. Moreover, the device will have a 3450 mAh battery as well as a USB Type-C port for charging.

Pixel's 5-inch screen will have a 1920-1080 pixel resolution. The smartphone will consist of a 2,770 mAh battery and a USB Type-C port for charging. Recent reports suggest that this device will have a 13 megapixel rear camera and an 8 megapixel front camera. Previous reports suggested that both the phones will have a 12 and an 8 megapixel camera.

Furthermore, the smartphones will reportedly have a G for Google logo at the back instead of the previous Nexus logo.
