The Google Nexus 6P | Google Nexus

Google Nexus 2016 has been in the rumor mill for a few months now. Previous reports suggest that the company has tapped HTC to help it manufacture the upcoming flagship smartphone. Rumor has it that the Taiwanese tech manufacturer has already started the development of Google Nexus 2016 and it will be rolled out in two different smartphone models–the Marlin and the Sailfish.

According to new leaked details, the two Nexus smartphones will come out with top-tier specifications to make sure they present tough competition against the best handsets in the market today including Samsung's Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge and the newly unveiled Galaxy Note 7.

According to The Malignant, the upcoming Google Nexus Marlin was spotted on the Antutu benchmark. According to the listing, the device will run on a Snapdragon 820 processor from Qualcomm paired with 4 GB or RAM. It will also carry 32 GB of internal storage capacity; however, there is still no report suggesting if the smartphone will have an expandable storage through microSD. The Nexus Marlin will be sporting a 13-megapixel primary snapper and an 8 MP front-facing camera. The handset will also be capable of supporting 2K display or 2560 x 1440 resolutions.

Earlier, the Nexus Sailfish was also spotted on the Antutu benchmarking website. According to the report, the smartphone will also carry the same Snapdragon 820 processor from Qualcomm paired with the same RAM capacity as the Marlin. It will also carry the same 32 GB onboard storage capacity and the Adreno 530 GPU. However, the Sailfish does not have the same display technology as the Marlin. The smartphone will carry a Full HD screen or 1920 x 1080 pixels resolutions.

Although nothing is set in stone yet, both the Nexus Marlin and Nexus Sailfish are expected to arrive with pre-installed Android Nougat or Android N operating system.
