Google Nexus 2016 release date, specs news update: Launch to coincide with Android 7.0 Nougat official release in August
If the latest rumors are anything to go by, the next batch of Google Nexus smartphones to be released this year will arrive in the same period that the official version of Android 7.0 Nougat will be out.

It has been reported that the current beta version of the latest Android operating system (OS) was just released recently. By the time of its introduction, the Nougat beta version was tagged as the "Developer Preview 5." Many are expecting that after its release, the final Android OS version will be launched. Not much has been known regarding the official release of Android 7.0 Nougat, but the latest rumors suggest that it will arrive sometime between August and September. Around the same time, the Nexus 2016 smartphones are expected to be unboxed by Google.
There are also rumors that the Nougat version may also be launched a month ahead of its expected release in August, but will still coincide the unboxing of the new Nexus smartphone models. This is likely to happen as Google has been using the launching of its Nexus smartphones to introduce its latest Android operating system.
It is highly speculated that HTC will be the partner of Google to manufacture the next batch of Nexus smartphones. The Taiwan-based device manufacturing company is expected to be busy in developing two new variants of the Nexus phone, namely the 5-inch smartphone called the Nexus Sailfish and the 5.5-inch phablet dubbed as the Nexus Marlin.
Meanwhile, there have also been speculations among some tech enthusiasts and spectators that HTC might no longer be Google's partner in creating the Nexus models. The Daily Sun reported that HTC might be planning to leave their long-time partnership with Google as the electronics company already has its own line of smartphones to focus on.
Specifically, HTC has just released HTC 10 and it is doing well in the markets according to the reports. HTC is reportedly skipping the anticipated Google Nexus 2016 project as the company wants to make sure that HTC 10 will maintain its success.
