As the end of the year gets nearer, rumors about the upcoming Google Nexus 2016 has gotten out of control. Various reports about its development and release date have been subjects of rumors and speculations all over the Internet. Previous reports suggested that Google's flagship smartphone will arrive in two models – the Sailfish and Marlin. According to the latest reports, Sailfish has been spotted on AnTuTu benchmarks.

It was previously reported that Google has tapped HTC to help them manufacture the next Google Nexus device. It was speculated that HTC has already started with the production and rumor has it that both smartphone models will come out this year.

The HTC Sailfish is expected to arrive with pre-installed Android Nougat. The highly anticipated Google operating system was announced a while back. The appearance of HTC Sailfish on AnTuTu benchmarks definitely signals the arrival of Google Nexus 2016.

The benchmarking website listed the HTC sailfish with Snapdragon 820 processor from Qualcomm. It will be paired with 4 GB of RAM for multitasking. The device will carry a 32 GB of internal storage; however, there are rumors suggesting that the Sailfish might have an expandable storage capacity via microSD. According to the Chinese social media site Weibo, the device will definitely run on Android NMR1 i.e. Android Nougat Manufacturer Release 1.

Other features of the device include a 13-megapixel primary camera and an 8 MP front-facing snapper.

Many people are now expecting the more superior HTC Marlin to be featured on the benchmarking site. As of the moment, official details of its specs and features have yet to be provided by the company. However, fans and critics have already shared their own views and predictions on what the device will bring to the table.

Meanwhile, According to BGR, Google may have revealed an image of the next generation Nexus smartphone on their Instagram page. The company; however, did not confirm anything as of the moment.
