After helping Team USA reach another gold medal in basketball at the Rio Olympics, the stars from the Golden State Warriors are now heading back home to face a new challenge.

The team won the title back in the 2014–15 season and were a win away from winning back-to-back titles before they collapsed against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

And now, it appears they are back with new talent as Kevin Durant joined the team after leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder.

As a result, the Warriors are now considered big favourites in winning the 2016–17 season even without a single game being played yet.

However, the biggest test is how they are going to make things work with so much firepower in the lineup.

Earlier, the biggest question was about Klay Thompson's role changing with the arrival of Durant.

In his statement, he believes that he does not need to change anything, and there will be no sacrificing when it comes to his touches during the game.

With Durant and Stephen Curry assured of getting the most touches and shots during the game, Thompson believes he will get his time, and he certainly showed it throughout the Olympics.

In a team studded with stars, Thompson certainly had his moments. He was able to pick up the slack when stars like Carmelo Anthony missed their shots.

He also had a breakout game with 30 points against a tough French squad.

All these are to show that he may not be on par with his two MVP teammates, but he is around to make sure he picks up the slack when the two are not at their best.

As for Durant, his experience playing in the Olympics will certainly help him in adapting to the new environment that he will have while in Oakland.

KD certainly felt that the time in Brazil helped him, claiming: "It was therapy for me after making a big change in my life," Durant said of playing in Brazil. "It made my life easier ... I knew [a backlash] was coming," he added.

He continued, saying: "It was definitely different for me, but to come here in an environment where people accepted me and didn't care about anything except being my buddy, that's what I needed."

This is certainly good news for the Warriors who are being looked at as the villains in the coming year.

Playing together in the Olympics and achieving their goal is a great way to start a solid relationship.
