The recently concluded Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 featured many giant game projects that are about to roll out in the coming months. One of the major surprises in the event is the presentation of Sony and Santa Monica Studio as a brand new "God of War" video game was finally unveiled. A new gameplay trailer for the fourth "God of War" installment for PlayStation 4 features several new contents and settings for the game.

Creative director Cory Barlog revealed during the post-conference interview with YouTube Live at E3 that the latest "God of War" game title will pick up right after the events of "God of War 3." Participants at Sony's E3 press conference were surprised to see a fresh look at "God of War" as an older Kratos was seen in the trailer, along with his unnamed son. Furthermore, the trailer reveals that Kratos has now left the Norse world for a new chapter in "God of War."

The new look of "God of War" caught the attention of many people, especially its brand new camera perspective, the subtle and quiet moments, and an aging Kratos. However, one big difference in the upcoming sequel is that the game will not have an open world setting, Game Spot reported.

Barlog responded to the question about the fourth "God of War's" openness by saying that the game remains open, but "it's not an open world." Specifically, the previous "God of War" games featured fixed camera angles, but the latest sequel will feature a switch to behind-the-back camera perspective.

"We wanted a much more intimate experience, a much more up close, and a much more player-controlled experience, so the camera really is a mechanic that we're leaning into heavily for everything in the game," said Barlog.

"I think you can expect the same pick-up-and-play accessibility that we've had in all previous games, but the new perspective gives you an entirely new take on the game."

Kotaku reported that Kratos will be accompanied by his unnamed son in a new chapter of his life. The gameplay trailer reveals that Kratos' son can be used by players by summoning him alongside Kratos during the battles. The story of the fourth "God of War" will be centered on Kratos mentoring his son in order to fix his mistakes from the previous game titles.
