Video game developers of "God of War" reportedly announced that the fourth installment of the franchise will be out in 2017.

Last month, "God of War" PlayStation 4 game director Cory Barlog responded to some speculations circulating on Twitter. Barlog tweeted a fan who was asking him if the fourth game will have 100 hours of gameplay. He responded, "nope. I hope to make it as long and action packed as humanly possible."

According to reports, the developers will be revealing the runtime information as soon as they finish the campaign.

In terms of combat, Barlog clarified that when it comes to dodging attacks, players won't just have to dodge and roll. In the upcoming game, players will have the option to block and parry as well. At the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo in June, viewers saw that Kratos will be able to throw his axe. More importantly, he can summon it back. Other than the axe, the developers didn't reveal other weapons at the video game conference.

Sources said that Kratos will be teaming up with his son to face many creatures from Norse mythology. Although the son will simply assist him in his quest, the character will be as resilient and as powerful as his father. Gameplay engineer Jet Shroff reportedly revealed that the controls for this installment will be trigger buttons instead of face buttons so players can be more personal with their character.

Although there have been no formal announcements about "God of War 4," Barlog assured players that the forthcoming game will be epic. Compared to the previous titles, the game will be on a whole new level.

The developers have yet to announce a specific release date for "God of War 4" but the game is expected to launch on the PlayStation 4 sometime in 2017.
