'Girl Meets World' season 4 renewal and updates: Fans petition for a fourth season

A new generation of fans fell in love with the "Boy Meets World" spin-off, "Girl Meets World." Though episodes are already planned to air all the way until 2017, the cast of the show is still hoping to come back for a fourth season.
Aside from the cast, however, some fans have started an online petition that would get Disney Channel to make more episodes "Girl Meets World."
Reports say that a campaign has already been started on Change.org to let the head of Disney know that they are interested in watching a new season. The petition aims to get 25,000 signatures, but as of now, it only has roughly 16,000 pledges.
There is also a back-up plan just in case Disney decides not to renew the show. As of now, "Boy Meets World" is screened on Freeform TV, so if Disney decides to drop "Girl Meets World," hopefully Freeform is the one who can save it.
Some speculate that the reason for the show's end may be because of the protagonists' age. The characters are now on the last leg of their high school years. With that in mind, a storyline about the characters moving on to more adult stories may not fit well with the network's target audience.
According to TV Line, a representative of Disney said there haven't been any final plans on the show's possible cancellation. When asked about a fourth season, the rep said that there is simply "no news to share yet." This could either be good or bad but fans of the show are already taking precautions that would keep "Girl Meets World" afloat.
In an interview with SheKnows last August, Rowan Blanchard, who plays Riley, said that she feels the show has a very important story to tell. She has confirmed that the cast had just wrapped on season three and they are just waiting for news of a renewal.
The next episode of "Girl Meets World" is set to air on Oct. 14 on Disney Channel.
