'Gilmore Girls' revival thrills Melissa McCarthy, but Sookie's appearance not expected

The classic comedy-drama TV series "Gilmore Girls" is set to return for a new season, and while Melissa McCarthy feels excited for the new chapter of the show which she was once a part of, she is not expected to make an appearance.on the revival.
In an interview with E! online's Mark Malkin for the promotion of McCarthy's new movie, 'The Boss,' she was asked whether her character Sookie St. James will be seen in "Gilmore Girls" revival.
"I don't think I am," McCarthy responded. "I didn't actually get asked to do it. But I think they thought I was busy, and then by the time it did come up, then I actually was."
"I'm actually thrilled that it's happening... I loved that show, and I think the fans for that show are super loyal and great and I will watch every single one of them," she told Malkin.
It is known that McCarthy has become one of the most in-demand actresses in Hollywood lately. Last year, she starred in the action-comedy movie "Spy" with Jason Statham and Jude Law, and aside from "The Boss," she will be seen in the "Ghostbusters" reboot this year.
It was first confirmed by Netflix that Gilmore Girls, whose original run was from Oct. 5, 2000 to May 15, 2007, will be revived through the streaming media service provider. TVLine reported that the revival will be a limited series composed of four 90-minute episodes, and each episode will represent a different season in a year: summer, fall, winter, and spring.
Entertainment Weekly reported that most of the original cast is set to reprise their role in the revival with Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel to play the mother and daughter tandem of Lorelei and Rory Gilmore. Scott Patterson, Kelly Bishop, Sean Gunn, and Keiko Agena are also confirmed to be part of the revival.
"Gilmore Girls" is produced by Dorothy Parker Drank Here Productions in association with Warner Bros., with the original show's creators and executive producers Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino set to return as writers and directors.
The revival, tentatively named "Gilmore Girls: Seasons," has begun shooting in Los Angeles, California on Feb. 2.
