George Zimmerman, the Florida man who was acquitted of second degree murder in the 2012 death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, has been accused of posting a photo of the dead teen's body on social media.

Media outlets are reporting that 31-year-old Zimmerman recently retweeted an image of 17-year-old Martin's corpse that was used as an evidential crime scene photo during Zimmerman's trial in 2012.

The photo shows the deceased teen wearing a hoodie as investigators stand around him.

Zimmerman had reportedly retweeted the image from one of his supporters, who had added the caption: "Z-Man is a one man army." The image has since been deleted.

The 31-year-old neighborhood watchman was acquitted of Martin's murder in 2013, but has remained in the public eye due to subsequent run-ins with the law, including allegations of a domestic violence dispute and a recurring road rage incident.

Zimmerman's estranged wife reportedly contacted authorities in 2013 claiming that the 31-year-old had attacked her father and threatened her with a gun. No firearms were found at the scene of the incident, and Zimmerman's wife refused to press charges.

In 2014, Zimmerman was also involved in a road rage incident in which he claims he was fired at while driving in Lake Mary. The alleged aggressor, Matthew Apperson, was charged with attempted murder of Zimmerman.

The recent retweet of the Martin photo caused a stir on social media, with prominent figures such as Talib Keli calling attention to the controversial photo.

"George Zimmerman is online posting pics of Trayvon Martin's dead body right now. Let that sink in America #blacklivesmatter," Kweli tweeted before Zimmerman's retweet was removed.
