A new trailer has recently been released for National Geographic's upcoming and first-ever scripted TV series titled "Genius."

"Genius" is National Geographic's first anthology drama series which follows the story of some of the world's greatest innovators. The dramatic series has one whole season allotted for each scientist or innovator, and the latest trailer reveals the historical figure in scientific breakthroughs and innovation the show's first season will cover: Albert Einstein.

As reported by We Got This Covered, the first season of the high-profile drama series will be based on Walter Isaacson's acclaimed biography, "Einstein: His Life and Universe," as well as some of the accomplished scientist's personal letters.

According to Screen Crush, the series will be depicting Einstein's trials over the course of his life before he received his Nobel Prize for his groundbreaking contributions in the field of physics.

It will show a glimpse of his youth and how he struggled to fit in at a time where his ideas and theories were deemed too forward and too far-fetched to grasp. It will also highlight his torment over the domination of the Nazis during his time. With his difficult life, Einstein found solace in the company and support of his wife Elsa and friend Michele Besso.

Academy Award-winner Geoffrey Rush will be portraying Albert Einstein — a role he will share with Johnny Flynn as his younger counterpart. The cast also includes Emily Watson as Einstein's second wife, Elsa; Seth Gabel as his long-time friend, Michele Besso; and Vincent Kartheiser as Raymond Geist, a consulate official in Berlin, Germany.

The first episode of season 1 of the upcoming National Geographic drama series will be the scripted television directorial debut of "A Beautiful Mind" director Ron Howard. Howard and Brian Grazer both serve as executive producers on the series.

"Genius" is expected to premiere sometime this spring on National Geographic. However, an official air date has not been announced yet.
