'Game of Thrones' Season 7 spoilers, cast news: Jim Broadbent joins for new season

Oscar winner Jim Broadbent has recently been cast in HBO's popular TV adaptation of "Game of Thrones."
Broadbent is known for portraying Hogwarts Professor Horace Slughorn in the "Harry Potter" franchise. Although HBO confirmed the actor's part in "Game of Thrones," the network refused to reveal his role in the forthcoming season. According to Entertainment Weekly, the only information HBO shared was that Broadbent is going to portray a "significant" role in season 7.
Recent speculations suggested that Broadbent could be portraying an archmaester next season. Meanwhile, some theories said the actor could be playing an older Howland Reed.
Although little is known about the upcoming season, the show is expected to have intense fight scenes and a ton of deaths. Maisie Williams, who portrays Arya Stark in the show, recently teased the forthcoming season on Twitter right after she finished reading season 7. She warned, "I'd start preparing yourselves now." Then she added, "Scratch that, nothing will prepare you for this."
The penultimate season of "Game of Thrones" will consist of only seven episodes unlike the previous 10-episode seasons. Production for season 7 has officially started. EW reported that the show has begun shooting in northern Ireland. The show will be returning to Spain and Ireland as well for filming.
The production for the show usually starts in July but as previously mentioned by the showrunners, winter has finally arrived after how many seasons of waiting so they need to shoot later in the year. It will start relatively late to accommodate the grim and cold winter setting needed for season 7.
In light of this, there is a good chance that the show might not return to its usual timeslot during the summer. At the 2016 Comic-Con, the showrunners stated this as a possibility but they have yet to confirm the release date for season 7.
