Production for the upcoming season of HBO's top-rating series "Game of Thrones" is currently in full swing, and two major characters are reportedly forming an unlikely alliance in season 7.

The previous season left off with Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) finally heading to Westeros, and she's likely to cross paths with many key characters for the first time. According to recent reports, the first characters she will encounter include Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) and Davos Seaworth (Liam Cunningham).

Accompanied by her aides Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) and Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel), Daenerys' scene as she met the two characters was shot in Italica, which is believed to serve as the Dragonpit. In the book series, the Dragonpit is located in an old building near King's Landing.

Since Daenerys and Brienne are known as two of the Seven Kingdoms' most strong-willed women, there are speculations that they will form a powerful alliance. Brienne and Davos have also been seen with Jon Snow (Kit Harington), and their meeting could mean that a bigger alliance between the Starks and Targaryens is possible.

Actor Ben Crompton, who plays Castle Black's Edd in the series, was present at the Sunderland Echo Portfolio Business Awards where he recently shared interesting teasers about the upcoming season. Crompton was careful to give away too much details, but he promised fans that many unexpected twists are up ahead, specially now that they only have two seasons left to wrap up the story.

"There are some surprises. We are gearing towards the end. Everyone is assuming certain things will happen but I won't say if that is the case," he revealed.

The 7th season of "Game of Thrones" will be shorter than usual, with only 7 episodes in total. The acclaimed series is slated to arrive on HBO in summer 2017.
