'Game of Thrones' Season 7 plot spoilers news: How Bran Stark's ability may affect series' future
The sixth season of "Game of Thrones" has shown one of the most shocking discoveries in the series' history, particularly Bran Stark's remarkable gift to see the past and the future. Aside from simply viewing a timeline different from the present, the viewers learned that Bran has the ability to alter the events in the past, and ultimately lead to a different future.
This fact about Bran's unique ability alone tells the "Game of Thrones" fans that the series' future may have already been set before they know it, iDigital Times speculated. This was already demonstrated unknowingly by Bran in a very memorable episode of Season 6 titled "The Door." A particular scene where Bran visited the childhood past of Hodor showed that the former caused the gentle giant to have a broken mind. If not for Bran's greenseeing and changing portions of the past, Hodor would have still remained as a normal person, and not as a giant who can only speak "Hodor" for most of his life.
To note, however, Bran's ability may not be enough to drastically change the present, like saving his brother Robb Stark during the Red Wedding, or making himself able to walk again by preventing his fall from the tower. This kind of things may never be changed, but the present and future of the whole series are still left hanging as Bran has yet to explore his unique ability. In fact, some events that the fans have seen so far in the previous chapter of "Game of Thrones" may have been caused by Bran himself.
The seventh season of "Game of Thrones" will arrive next year, although its premiere date will come a little later than usual. The TV series' showrunners themselves, David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, already revealed that the upcoming season will begin later than the usual schedule of March and April, according to the Hollywood Reporter . The production team would like to wait until Winter 2016 to begin shooting the first scenes for Season 7, as the dark and wintry backdrop will perfectly match what's in store for the new season. With this, the season premiere may fall sometime in Summer 2017.
