'Game of Thrones' season 7 plot spoilers, cast news 2016: Angela Lansbury won't be on 'GoT'

One of the more widespread rumors about the seventh season of HBO's "Game of Thrones" suggested that British actress Angela Lansbury will be guest starring next season. However, recent reports confirmed that she will not be making an appearance in season 7.
Lansbury is a well-adored Hollywood actress who has contributed so many great films to cinematic history. Her performance in the 1945 movie "The Picture of Dorian Gray" earned her two Oscar nominations and a Golden Globe award. In 2013, she garnered an Honorary Oscar award for being "an entertainment icon who has created some of cinema's most memorable characters, inspiring generations of actors." Like the traditional Oscar winners, she was given the same gold Oscar statuette.
Lansbury's representatives told Entertainment Weekly that the information regarding her guest appearance on the popular TV series is "not accurate." According to the news outlet, the rumors were started by a German website known for generating gossip and fake news. Fans of the show were quick to indulge the rumors about the 90-year-old actress' involvement in the popular TV adaptation of George R.R. Martin's best-selling novels.
So far, only "Harry Potter" actor Jim Broadbent has been confirmed as a guest star in the forthcoming season. As previously reported, Broadbent's part in the forthcoming episode has yet to be announced. However, HBO revealed that the actor will portray a very significant character next season. Little is known about the character but rumors suggested that the actor could be portraying an archmaester in the forthcoming season.
The seventh season of "Game of Thrones" will premiere on HBO in 2017. The show will return in the summer instead of the spring since production for the upcoming season started a little later than usual. Winter is coming to "Game of Thrones" next season; therefore, the show needs the cold and grim weather as part of its set.
