'Game of Thrones' season 6 news, spoilers: Emilia Clarke on agreeing to film nude scene; director confirms shortened future

Emilia Clarke has spoken up about agreeing to film the fiery nude scene in the "Game of Thrones" season 6 episode "Book of the Stranger," saying that it was an "empowering" experience for her character, Daenerys Targaryen.
Fans were shocked by Clarke's disrobing in that episode, as the actress is said to have signed a no-nudity clause with "Game of Thrones." Clarke had appeared naked in the series several times during the fantasy drama's freshman season, but has reportedly refused to appear in more nude scenes.
According to ComicBook.com, the actress had become fed up with the amount of nudity on the show.
Clarke set the record straight in a recent interview with The Sun, saying that she wasn't really against nudity and that she was willing to appear naked onscreen as long as the scene "adds insight" into her character.
According to Clarke, in "Game of Thrones," some explicit scenes are necessary and do make sense for certain characters. However, if a nude scene is gratuitous, then she would have to discuss how to make the scene more subtle with the director.
The actress also spoke about how she prepared for her latest nude scene, saying, "All I needed was vodka and some flattering lighting and I was ready."
"I was so thrilled with it," she added. "It's not a sexy scene, she's not naked for no reason, it's not gratuitous. She's naked because she's just destroyed her enemies in this almighty blaze after they underestimated her."
Meanwhile, "Game of Thrones" director Jack Bender, who directed the show's recent heartbreaking episode "The Door," may have just confirmed that the next season of the hit HBO series will be a shortened one.
Speaking with Vanity Fair about the possibility of returning to direct an episode for the seventh season, Bender said, "They're only doing seven [episodes], and they've got their regulars who have done it forever."
"I haven't been asked yet and I also don't know what their schedule is going to be," he said.
"Game of Thrones" season 6 airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
