'Game of Thrones' season 6 news, spoilers: Director spills the beans on Lady Stoneheart; Varys not a Daenerys ally?

Fans of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" saga, on which HBO's "Game of Thrones" is based, have been waiting to see if book favorite Lady Stoneheart will make an appearance on the popular fantasy drama TV series.
In George R.R. Martin's bestselling novels, Lady Stoneheart, the reanimated corpse of Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairley), is with the Brotherhood Without Banners and plays an important role in things to come.
Nonetheless, director Mark Mylod, who helmed the season 6 episodes "The Broken Man" and "No One," now says that he has not had a single discussion about Lady Stoneheart, which seems to imply that the character will not be appearing in the current season of "Game of Thrones."
"I'm not in the writers' room, and I can honestly say, hand over heart, that I have not had one discussion about Lady Stoneheart," Mylod told IGN.
"No One, " the most recent episode, seems to confirm this. In it, Beric Dondarrion (Richard Dormer) is still alive. In the books, he gave his life so that Cat could be brought back to life after she was murdered at the Red Wedding.
Nonetheless, "Game of Thrones" has always been secretive about characters (see: Jon Snow, The Hound) coming back to life. It may thus be only a matter of time before Lady Stoneheart appears.
"So I have no idea what's going on in [showrunners] David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss]'s minds," the director said. "I've genuinely had no discussions about Lady Stoneheart, so I genuinely couldn't comment about whether that might or might not be in their minds for the future."
Meanwhile, Redditor Ariskov has an interesting theory about Varys (Conleth Hill), who was last seen leaving Meereen to supposedly recruit allies for Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) in Westeros.
According to the Redditor, Varys' intentions may not be as pure as they sound. While the Spider has appeared to be loyal to Dany, he may actually be plotting to take her down.
As Ariskov explained in his Reddit post, Varys has always said that he is intent on serving the realm. Thus, it doesn't make sense that he would be backing a "vengeful conqueror" such as Daenerys, someone who is the prophesied savior of the religion practiced by Kinvara (Ania Bukstein), who Varys both hates and fears.
The Redditor also noted that Varys may have been behind the attack on Meereen, which destroyed Dany's fleet and almost ruined the entire city. As Ariskov pointed out, it also seems highly unlikely that the former Master of Whisperers was unaware of the impending attack, which occurred almost as soon as he was safely out of the city, making his departure all the more suspicious.
"Game of Thrones" airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
