'Fuller House' series latest news: Netflix renews 'Full House' sequel for season 3

Netflix has renewed "Fuller House" for a third season.
The news was announced by Netflix on Saturday, Dec. 24, through the reboot series' official social media accounts. A video was posted on Twitter and Facebook teasing the season 3 renewal. The announcement came just two weeks after the launch of the show's second season last Dec. 9.
"Fuller House" is a spin-off of the beloved '80s and '90s family show "Full House." The new series follows the story of widower and veterinarian D.J. Tanner-Fuller (Candace Cameron-Bure), her musician sister Stephanie Tanner (Jodie Sweetin), and her longtime best friend Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber). Together, they help raise D.J.'s three boys and Kimmy's teenage daughter in San Francisco.
Original cast members Bob Saget, Dave Coulier, John Stamos, and Lori Loughlin have also made appearances in the spin-off series.
The Netflix series has original series producer Jeff Franklin as the show's executive producer. He also served as the showrunner for the sequel series' first season. Robert L. Boyett and cast member John Stamos are also serving as executive producers of the show.
As reported by Gamespot, overall reception from the critics and the show's viewers for the first two seasons has been mixed. The show was even deemed as one of the year's worst scripted offerings by The Hollywood Reporter, criticizing its first episode as "a steady death march of flaccid punchlines, bloated nostalgia, overeager callbacks and self-congratulatory back-patting."
Netflix has yet to share the viewership number of "Fuller House." Despite the lukewarm review of the show, it looks like the numbers are good enough for the online video streaming service provider to renew the show for one more season.
The first season of "Fuller House" debuted in late February 2016, followed by an announcement of its season 2 renewal in March. A premiere date for season 3 has not been announced yet, but it is expected to come out sometime in 2017.
