'Fuller House' season 2 news, spoilers: Filming officially wraps up; Jason Marsden explains why he couldn't reprise his role as Nelson

Filming for Netflix's series "Fuller House" has officially wrapped up at the end of Labor Day weekend. With only a matter of months before the hit sitcom returns to the small screen, the stars celebrated the end of filming by posting photos through social media.
According to reports, the whole cast held a small party to celebrate the occasion. The series of Instagram photos include Jodie Sweetin sporting a shark costume, along with Candace Cameron Bure and Scott Weinger being chummy by sharing a kiss and hug. Mr. Woodchuck also joined the fun as one of the photos featured the beloved character passed out with an empty bottle of champagne next to him.
Aside from attending the wrap party, Bure commemorated the end of her work for season 2 by chopping off her long blonde locks. The 40-year-old debuted her new textured bob hairstyle through an Instagram post with the caption: "So this just happened! #Shorthairdontcare Thank you @blay.locks for the fresh cut."
Season 2 will feature two familiar roles from the original series "Full House," but they will be portrayed by different actors. In an upcoming episode featuring D.J. Tanner's high school reunion, viewers will once again see her ex-boyfriend Nelson Burkhard and her friend/enemy Kathy Santoni. The reason behind Kathy's recasting was not revealed but Nelson's portrayer Jason Marsden recently explained why he will not appear in the series.
For the uninitiated, Nelson is a young man who comes from an insanely wealthy family and becomes D.J.'s boyfriend. Although their relationship did not last long, the ex-lovers remained friends at the end of "Full House." In a three-part video posted via Twitter, Marsden said it was ultimately his decision not to reprise his role. He was invited to be a celebrity guest at Dragon Con in Atlanta and unfortunately, the event happens to be the same week he'd need to fly to Los Angeles to film "Fuller House." Marsden admitted that not joining the series was a difficult choice to make, but he wishes new Nelson the best.
"Fuller House" season 2 is expected to premiere later this year on Netflix.
