Two more familiar faces from D.J.'s past will join the upcoming season of Netflix's hit sitcom "Fuller House," but viewers will probably not recognize them at all. The characters of Nelson Burkhard and Kathy Santoni have been confirmed to be recast for the spin-off series.

Nelson (originally portrayed by Jason Marsden) is D.J.'s rich ex-boyfriend while Kathy (originally played by Anne Marie McEvoy) is D.J.'s high school friend/enemy. Casting is currently underway for the two characters will make their debut in "Fuller House" in an episode featuring D.J.'s high school reunion.

According to TV Line, fans will be delighted to see that nothing much has changed for either of them. Nelson remained obnoxiously wealthy and he wants to make sure that everyone knows how rich he is. Kathy, on the other hand, is still as snooty and mean as she ever was.

Adding to the nostalgia in the upcoming season is the guest appearance of popular boy band New Kids on the Block, who happens to be the creators' dream guest star since the first season. "Growing Pains" star Alan Thicke will also join season 2 and his character will go on a date with one of D.J.'s good friends.

On other related news, actor/executive producer John Stamos a.k.a. Uncle Jesse recently celebrated his birthday and his co-stars greeted him through social media. Two of his nieces in the program, Jodie Sweetin (who plays Stephanie Tanner) and Candace Cameron Bure (who plays D.J. Tanner), both shared messages for the actor as he turned 53 last Friday.

"Happy Birthday Uncle J @johnstamos !! Love you!!" Sweetin posted on her Instagram account. Bure also shared a photo with Stamos plus the caption: "Happy birthday Uncle J- love you." Other stars who sent their well wishes through social media included Bob Saget (who plays Danny Tanner), Dave Andrea Barber (who plays Kimmy Gibbler), Coulier (who plays uncle Joey), Soni Bringas (who plays Ramona Gibbler) and Elias Harger (who plays Max Fuller).

Netflix has yet to officially announce a premiere date for "Fuller House" season 2, but the series is expected to return later this year.
