"Frozen" bewitched many audiences when it was released last year, leaving many movie fans yearning for a sequel.

Rumors went into overdrive when Idina Menzel told The Telegraph recently that a sequel was indeed being considered.

While a sequel is not surprising, some are wondering if it will be able to live up to the original film's blockbuster visuals and plot. "Frozen" went on to gross nearly $1.3 billion at the worldwide box office, even toppling "Toy Story 3" as the best animated film of all time.

In "Frozen," Menzel provided the voice for Elsa (the Snow Queen). She even performed the hit song "Let It Go" at the Oscars where it won in the Best Original Song Category.

Earlier this year, it was rumored that a sequel to the film was being considered by Disney, but soon after the Walt Disney Studio chairman dismissed the rumors. Chairman Alan Horn clarified that Disney was not working on a sequel but was focusing instead on getting a stage version of "Frozen."

It was reported that Menzel would not be part of the stage version.

However, when Menzel spoke to The Telegraph recently she noted that a sequel was "in the works" and that she hoped to voice the character Elsa in it again.

This left many fans hoping that news of a sequel would officially be announced by Disney. Others hoped it would have a better plot unlike the "plot-less" sequels created by Disney.

After her Telegraph interview, Menzel appeared on the Today show. In it she stated that she had no concrete news about the sequel. She said she "just assumed that a sequel would be coming up because 'Frozen' was so successful."

Meanwhile, those who want more "Frozen"-related movies need not be disheartened as a short movie titled "Frozen Fever" is due to be released next year.
