"Friday the 13th: The Game" is one of the most-anticipated video games to be released this year, and just as the developers promised when they first announced the title, they will not hold back on the gore and blood. A new trailer for the upcoming game has been released, and it seems the dev team kept true to their word.

The 2-minute clip is clearly not for the faint of heart, but for those who want to see the entire video, it can be viewed here. Jason is still doing what he does best, and some of the gruesome death sequences include the notorious killer pushing someone into a fireplace, lodging a pick-axe into a man's neck and pushing an unfortunate soul's eyeballs into his face.

According to Gamespot, "Friday the 13th: The Game" was originally titled "Slasher Vol 1: Summer Camp" before the Friday the 13th franchise rights holders contacted game developer Gun Media. The rights were eventually given to the company for free, turning the game into an official Friday the 13th title. For the uninitiated, it is a multiplayer video game where one player takes on the role of serial killer Jason while the others play as campers. Included in the long list of character archetypes are  "the girl next door" and "the jock."

Although "Friday the 13th: The Game" is a multiplayer title, Gun Media remains open to the possibility of adding a single player mode in the future. Should a solo experience become developed, the title's co-creator Wes Keltner said players could still be able to play as Jason or even a camp counselor, comparing the feature to another popular game "Hitman."

"Friday the 13th: The Game" is tentatively scheduled to hit the shelves in October. It will be released for Xbox One, PS4 and PC, and it is currently available for pre-order through the game's official website.
