Fox News host Megyn Kelly has spoken out regarding a recent feud with 2016 presidential hopeful Donald Trump, saying she may have "overestimated" the real estate's ability to manage his anger.

Following the Fox News-hosted GOP debate earlier this year, Trump hurled a slew of insults at Kelly, who moderated the debate, arguing that she singled him out and asked him especially difficult questions.

Kelly defended her moderating while recently speaking at Fortune's Most Powerful Women Summit this week in Washington, D.C., saying she asked all of the GOP candidates tough questions during that debate, held in August.

"It's clear we may have overestimated his anger-management skills," Kelly said at the Tuesday event.

The Fox News host went on to argue that all GOP presidential candidats have volunteered to be put in their position and must be able to field tough questions.

"Sorry, you put yourself into this," Kelly said, adding "You have a job to do, which is answer tough questions."

"I have a tough job to do, which is ask them," Kelly added.

Trump's comments toward Kelly became so severe, including calling the Fox News host a "bimbo," that Fox News Chief Roger Ailes demanded Trump apologize to Kelly.

"Megyn Kelly represents the very best of American journalism and all of us at FOX News Channel reject the crude and irresponsible attempts to suggest otherwise," Ailes said in a statement in August.
