Football Team Gives Seattle High School League Trophy Following Shooting

A high school football team near Seattle, Washington recently forfeited its game against Marysville-Pilchuck high school following a shooting that happened at the school last week.
Oak Harbor High School was supposed to play Marysville-Pilchuck hours after the Friday shooting that left three dead and three severely injured. Instead of rescheduling the game, the local Seattle Fox News affiliate reports that Oak Harbor made the decision to forfeit the division title game, giving Marysville-Pilchuck the title.
Along with this kind gesture, the team for Marysville-Pilchuck was also invited to play at the Seattle Seahwaks stadium this week, where coach Pete Carroll and some of the players came out to speak with the students after they suffered such a senseless tragedy.
According to SB Nation, on Wednesday members of the Marysville-Pilchuck team surprised Oak Harbor at practice by awarding them the league championship trophy.
"It was the least we could do," Marysville-Pilchuck head coach Brandon Carson told the Herald. "With everything they have done for us."
The community of Marysville-Pilchuck is still reeling from the shooting last Friday in the school cafeteria that killed three people, including the gunman, Jaylen Fryberg.
The gunman was reportedly a well-liked student who was nominated as homecoming prince. He reportedly shot Zoe Galasso, Gia Soriano, and two of his cousins over a row involving a girl. Galasso and Soriano have since died from their injuries.
Although Marysville-Pilchuck was closed this week following the shooting, many students have reportedly already gone back to school at nearby high schools, hoping to be with their classmates and teachers during this tragedy.
