'Final Fantasy XV' news: Character-specific DLC packs to have different types of gameplay

The "Final Fantasy XV" downloadable content (DLC) packs are expected to offer various gameplay experiences. For the first time in the game's history, creator Square Enix will give players the chance to control characters other than the lead.
Traditionally, players of role-playing video games can only influence the actions of the lead character. In this case, players have control over Noctis. However, the upcoming DLC will allow players to control Noctis' allies — Ignis, Gladiolus and Prompto.
The supplementary characters will have their own playable episodes in the "Final Fantasy XV" DLC.
The official website of "Final Fantasy XV" revealed the details of the DLC packs, which were translated by Siliconera. Square Enix shared that six 6 DLC packs will have four episodes, three of which are the individual episodes of Ignis, Gladiolus, and Prompto wherein the player will use these characters.
The first DLC for "Final Fantasy XV" is a booster pack which will give players powerful weapons in battle. The second DLC is an original episode for Gladiolus. The third DLC is a Holiday Pack in which players can get an item that will make the entire game experience better. Two other DLC packs are episodes for Ignis and Prompto. Lastly, there is an expansion pack that will provide users with a completely new way to play "Final Fantasy XV."
Game director Hajime Tabata told IGN at the recent Gamescom held in Germany that the episodes featuring a particular character will offer gameplay that is customized to that character's strengths and weaknesses.
For the Gladiolus episode, Tabata revealed that the episode will feature a higher level of action gameplay. On the other hand, the Prompto episode will focus on the character's use of his gun while the Ignis episode will focus on his tactical abilities.
Game Rant suggested that the character-specific DLC packs were created to fill in the gaps of the main game's story.
The "Final Fantasy XV" launch date was pushed back to Nov. 29 instead of the previous release date scheduled on Sept. 30.
