'Fifty Shades Darker' extended trailer offers a closer look at the people working against Ana and Christian's romance

Universal Pictures' marketing machine revs up with the nearing release of "Fifty Shades Darker." The sequel film from the franchise gets an extended trailer cut equipped with more scenes from Ana (Dakota Johnson) and Christian (Jamie Dornan), as well as snippets of people getting in the way of their happily ever after.
The promo clip is a mish and mash of footages already seen via the first full trailer of the film as well as some TV spots released all over the world. This time, however, the sequences have continued previews of the snippets giving a little bit more context to what exactly is happening. It is also noticeable that the video seems to capitalize on the suspense aspect of the story as the dwindling moments of the sneak peek get some eerie shots hinting at danger to come
Those who have read E.L. James' novels on which the trilogy of the movie is based, more or less know what is about to come down in the middle of the narrative. Obviously, there is Leila (Bella Heathcote), Christian's former sub who gets obsessed with Ana and her more lenient relationship with the billionaire. Her unstable psychosis and tragic story do not help her cause as she wreaks havoc on the couple.
There is also Elena (Kim Basinger), also known as Mrs. Robinson, who introduced Christian to his lifestyle in the flesh. The character who have been referenced multiple times in the first film gets her introduction in a subtle yet impactful fashion. Although basing on the books, her tie-up with Ana and Christian will not be fully fleshed out until the third novel.
Lastly, there is Jack Hyde (Eric Johnson), Ana's immediate boss who gets into a long-running pissing contest with Christian. Like Elena, his narrative is not expected to be done until the trilogy capper. Unless except, the movies change his arc significantly.
A collaboration song between Taylor Swift and Zayn Malik titled "I Don't Wanna Live Forever (Fifty Shades Darker)" accompanies the two-minute sneak peek taking over the mantle that Beyonce's "Crazy in Love" formerly holds as the franchise's high-profile original soundtrack (OST).
"Fifty Shades Darker" hits the cinemas just in time for this year's Valentine's day on Feb 10.
