Rumored to be released on April 14, 2017, "Fast and the Furious 8" is set to feature new characters, including "Mad Max" actress Charlize Theron as the franchise's first female villain. Along with Theron, actresses Michelle Rodriguez and Eva Mendes will be reprising their respective roles. Mendes returns as Agent Monica Fuentes, following her stint in "Fast and Furious 6." Meanwhile, Rodriguez will be seen once more as the mechanic Letty.

In an interview with Metro, Rodriguez said she's hopeful that the two of them will get along instead of having a rivalry in the movie. However, she made it clear that she does not agree with a film based solely on girl power. "I think it's cute but you do lose a lot of audience when you specialize like that. It's kind of like a black organization or Latino organization making content just for Latinos or blacks. It's stupid. You know what I mean?" Rodriguez said. "If I were ever to do it, I think you have to be all encompassing. You have to think holistically and look for the broader audiences. And I don't like hating on guys to make women powerful. I think you can do both. Mad Max is proof of that," she concluded.

As for the other cast members, a replacement for Paul Walker has not yet been established. However, there are speculations that he will be shown in flashbacks. Meanwhile, rumor has it that Justin Bieber will be one of the key characters of the film as Lucas Black's car racing buddy, according to Australian News Network. Also returning for the film is Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham. A concrete plot line also remains to be unknown, as indicated on the film's IMDB page, but the promotional poster indicates a New York City setting. According to the same website, a big action sequence will be shot in Iceland this April 2016, which is considered to be the "biggest explosion scene ever filmed in Iceland."

Word on the street is that the film has only two months before the production officially wraps up.
