'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' news: Rowling gives update on franchise's future

November is looking to have a "magical" box-office lineup. Aside from Marvel Studios upcoming "Doctor Strange," audiences will also be treated to a return to J.K. Rowling's wizarding world in "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them." New clips and promos have been released for the movie and it showcased all the different characters that will be appearing in this "new era" of magic.
In an IMAX Fan Event Featurette, J.K. Rowling herself talked about the opportunities that she has gotten while working on the movie. She said, "In 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,' you're learning about a part of magic history that's talked about in the 'Potter' books that you never see. I'm getting a chance to tell that now."
Sure enough, "Fantastic Beasts" is Rowling's first foray into screenwriting. Though the "Harry Potter" movies were adapted from her novels, this movie came straight from the mind of Rowling with the intent to be shown on the big screen.
The clip also featured some new antagonists for the movie called the "Second Salemers." They are non-magic people (no-maj in America, Muggles in Britain) who seek to expose the Wizarding community and hopefully get rid of them.
There was also a look at Colin Farrell's character, Percival Graves, who looks to be the main antagonist of the movie. The clip revealed that Graves is actually the head auror in the American society of wizards, and it looks like he's in charge of handling Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) after his magical creatures escape from his briefcase.
It's also been revealed that "Fantastic Beasts" will be the first of five movies. J.K. Rowling tweeted this is because the story they want to tell "can't possibly fit in one movie."
"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" hits theaters Nov. 18.
