European country recognises Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster as official religion
The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (FSM) has been recognized by the Netherlands as an official religion.
After several years of attempting to get recognition by the authorities, the church has finally achieved its goal.
A few days ago, "Pastafarians", members of FSM church, received notice from the country's Chamber of Commerce that they will now be considered by the Netherlands as an official religion.
The European nation follows the short but growing list of countries that have recognized the church. 'Prophet' Bobby Henderson has already made the religion recognized across North America.
The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster was established in 2005 by Henderson in the United States. The Flying Spaghetti Monster was first mentioned in an open satirical letter to the Kansas State Board of Education, which suggested students should be taught 'intelligent design' instead of evolution in public school classes.
Like other religions, the 'pastafarians' believe in their own version of heaven and hell. For them, heaven is a beer volcano where there is a factory that creates beautiful girls. In contrast, hell for the FSM church is a volcano as well, but has worse-tasting beer. In addition, the girls have sexually-transmitted diseases.
While the media and some government units treat them as a 'parody' religion, they have their own bible, the Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, and pastafarians wear colanders on their heads to let everyone know who they are.
