'Empire' season 3 spoilers, news, updates: Hakeem becomes jealous of Andre; Shine points gun at Lyon family member
All hell breaks loose when "Empire" season 3 makes its long-awaited return after the World Series.
Titled "Chimes at Midnight," Wednesday's episode will see Empire deal with a huge complication after the company's system gets hacked and all confidential files are leaked. While everyone scrambles to keep the company from falling apart, another war is brewing within the Lyon family. This time, it will be between brothers Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) and Andre (Trai Byers) as they fight for one woman's affection.
In the recently released sneak peek for episode 6, Hakeem finally learns about Andre's new romance with Nessa (Sierra McClain), and he is obviously not happy about it. At some point in the clip, Lucious (Terrence Howard) rival Shine (Xzibit) can be seen pointing a gun at a member of the Lyon family, while Anika (Grace Gealey) makes an unexpected move.
Meanwhile, the previous episodes saw Shine and Lucious' half-brother Tariq (Morocco Omari) become allies because of their common enemy. In an interview, co-producer/writer Joshua Allen teased what's next for the unlikely duo.
"It's an uneasy alliance so it's one to watch because even though they are working together against a common enemy, of course, it wouldn't be juicy if each one of them weren't working his or her own angle," he said. "So that's something to watch as that alliance moves forward, how these two characters work within the alliance when it benefits them but then also making their own side moves as well."
On another note, Andre may be ready to start a new relationship again but his dead wife will continue to haunt him. Allen confirmed that Rhonda (Kaitlin Doubleday) is not going anywhere and her story arc will continue in the coming episodes. "I will say we are not entirely done with Rhonda in whatever form she may take," the producer revealed.
