Elevate iPhone App Review: Gets Top Billing From Apple

The Elevate brain training app was recently crowned as the "app of the year" by Apple, a move destined to bring more attention to it as the year comes to a close.
The app that Apple deemed fit to promote this year was created with a lofty goal to "help people get to a better place." However, the app was first conceptualized as something that could help with SAT preparation and promote language skills.
Outlining the current philosophy behind the app, its creator Jesse Pickard says it helps people by "zeroing in on each person's struggles" and then giving them the ability to cope with them.
The app achieves its goals by training users to maximize their brain power by way of games that are designed to improve vocabulary, memory and math skills.
Apple, in its announcement, also noted that the app has great design elements, including the ability to track progress in various games coupled with motivational reminders that pop up daily. The plus points of the Elevate app enable it to beat rivals such as Lumosity and Peak-Brain Training.
The basic version of the Elevate app is free and comes with games that are divided into 25 sets. Users can get more games by paying $5 per month. The Elevate app is available for both Android and iOS platforms. It has been downloaded over five million times since it was launched in May, and has several thousand paying customers.
Although the app can be used on both tablets and smartphones, it is best suited for smartphones as people always keep them nearby, Pickard says. Another advantage that smartphones have is that they have a touch-based interface which is something that most computers do not have.
In the days ahead, Pickard says the app will try to help people learn other skills such as pronunciation and grammar as well as improve their reading and budgeting abilities.
