Dual Play Mode in Final Installment of 'Batman: Arkham Knight' Explained in Trailer

The latest trailer of the upcoming final installment of 'Batman: Arkham Knight' explained the dual play combat mode in the game and showcased more moves from Batman and his friends.
Slowly, details about the game are emerging with the release of the final installment in the Batman gaming trilogy from Rocksteady just about a month away.
The game's dual play mode was earlier revealed last April by the publisher Warner Bros and developer Rocksteady. At the time, the Warner Bros announcement said the mode would allow players to "seamlessly switch" from Batman to any of his allies such as Robin, Catwoman and Nightwing. For those who buy the season pass priced at $40, they will also get Batgirl as one of Batman's allies.
The latest trailer featured Tim Hanagan, the game's lead AI programmer. He showed the ease in which players can switch from Batman to any of his allies. In this mode, players also get to use combos and special moves to take on a larger group of enemies. Special attention was also focused on the "super-combo takedown" that features Batman and his ally Nightwing combining to deliver a one-two punch to take out enemies. However, to use the "super combo takedown," the game needs to be charged to a certain level.
When a player switches from Batman to Nightwing in the dual play mode, the role of Batman will be controlled by AI. This mode is offered in specific encounters. Citing an example, LazyGamer said the mode can be used when Batman and Nightwing are tailing a truck heading for Penguin's weapons cache. There they will encounter a larger number of enemies where the dual play mode will come into effect.
While gamers only have praise for the dual play mode, critics in gaming websites say it is still too early to reach a consensus on the new mode, noting that the larger enemy count does not increase the level of difficulty in the game. In fact some critics point out that in the trailer many of the enemies seemed to be just standing around and Batman could have handled them on his own without help from his allies.
