'Dragon Ball Super' news updates, spoilers: Future Trunks to make a surprise appearance?
The inter-universe tournament between Universe 6 and Universe 7 has finally come to a close in the hugely popular anime series "Dragon Ball Super." The two Gods of Destruction, Beerus and Champa, had pitted their own pick of the strongest warriors in their respective areas. For Beerus, he handpicked Piccolo, Majin Buu, Vegeta, Son Goku and Monaka as representatives of Universe 7. In the end, Goku's team reigned victorious, and the previous episode ended with a possible bigger tournament in the future courtesy of the Omni King of all 12 universes, Zeno.

Meanwhile, as the dust begins to settle after the breath-taking action between Universe 6 and Universe 7 fighters, there are rumors that "Dragon Ball Super" is going back to its roots as a "future-related" character is going to make an appearance in the future. Many fans expect that the character hailing from the future is none other than Future Trunks.
The rumor of Future Trunks appearing in "Dragon Ball Super" started when Akirama Toriyama, the creator of "Dragon Ball Z" and "Dragon Ball Super," has revealed in an interview that a future-based character will be appearing on the show. He also said that after that after the Champa and the Universe 6 vs. Universe 7 arc, viewers can expect more from the series as he and Toyotaro, the series' illustrator, have been preparing more exciting chapters for the show. One of the highlights of the upcoming plotlines is the "future-based" character that many have speculated to be Future Trunks.
"I've read the plot for the new story, and I'm really happy a certain future related character is going to be involved. I'm a huge fan!" Toriyama said during the interview via Movie Pilot.
Toriyama also added that the character is "pretty popular" and many viewers, especially the kids, will be very happy to see the character on the screen.
Meanwhile, Episode 42 of "Dragon Ball Super" features the fight between Goku and Monaka. In the recently concluded arc, Beerus claimed that Monaka is the "strongest" warrior personally handpicked by him. However, it was revealed that Monaka is not actually a "fierce" warrior that Beerus made him appear to be, as Beerus only said that to motivate Goku and Vegeta to train harder.
