'Downton Abbey' Season 5 Spoilers, Plot Rumors: Crawley Women Get Themselves Into Scandalous Situation

The Crawley women find themselves in plenty of scandalous situations in the third episode of the fifth season of "Downton Abbey."
Last Sunday's episode kicked off with Lady Mary Crawley's scandalous affair with Tony Gillingham, who was caught kissing Mary on the cheek by Dowager Countess' butler, Spratt.
When Spratt told her of what he saw, Lady Violet was quick on her feet to come up with an elaborate lie to cover, saying the two were scheduled to attend a land owners conference together, the International Business Times said.
Meanwhile, Sergeant Willis made a surprise visit to Downton Abbey, asking Mr. Carson about Mr. Green's murder after a witness had come forward. The unscheduled visit made Mrs. Hughes, Anna, and Mary worried since they were the only ones who knew John Bates had a motive to kill Mr. Green, which could potentially throw him to prison.
Sergeant Willis returned to question Bates, Anna's husband, who seemed calm saying he knew where he was in York that day.
But while Bates may have convinced the sergeant he was innocent, Mrs. Hughes realized Bates could have very well killed Green considering the knowledge she has on the places he visited in York were by the train station and he could easily have made a quick trip to London.
Lady Grantham had another crime to look into, thinking there was a "missing element" to Baxter's story about being a thief and decide if she should remain her lady's maid or not.
That wasn't Lady Grantham's only issue in "Downton Abbey" Season 5, episode 3. Lady Cora was with Bricker looking at art in London when Lord Grantham came down to surprise her, which prompted her to stay out late with Bricker while leaving Robert, who was planning a surprise, to wait.
Thinking there was something going on with his wife and Bricker, Lord Grantham is not convinced the man would really be interested in his wife's opinions on art.
