'Doctor Who' Season 10 release date, news: Premiere in 2017, Doctor to have new companion

The filming of the tenth season of hit BBC series "Doctor Who" is already in its middle stages before the new chapter will be aired on television by 2017. Long-time fans of the show have been waiting to know more about the upcoming season as the decades-old fiction program returns next year. The twelfth incarnation of the Doctor himself, played by the veteran actor Peter Capaldi, has so many details to spill to the fans about Season 10.
Capaldi had a close interview with the Brazilian-based entertainment publication Omelete (via Entertainment Weekly) to talk about the new things the viewers can expect in Season 10, or Series 10 as the production team calls it. One of the biggest questions that the fans have been wanting to be answered since the ninth season concluded is who will be the Doctor's next companion. It can be recalled that the previous "Doctor Who" companion Clara Oswald (played by Jenna Coleman) has bid the doctor and the viewers farewell in Series 9.
Capaldi revealed that "Doctor Who" has already found the new companion, although he refused to give more details regarding the mysterious new companion in Series 10. He assured the fans that along with the introduction of a new companion, there will be fresh additions to the show that are going to give excitement to the viewers.
"Obviously I know who that is and we've been doing a bit of work together already, and it's very exciting. Because it's a very different sort of take on it," Capaldi teased.
It was also revealed by Capaldi in the interview that the relationship between the twelfth doctor and the upcoming companion in the popular TV program is going to be very different compared to what the Doctor had with Clara Oswald. He further explained that the relationship between the doctor and the new companion will start out of a clean slate whereas Oswald's character had known the doctor for some time and the relationship between the two had already been established. Clara already knows a lot about the Doctor and TARDIS, while the new companion has very little knowledge about the things that he or she is about to face.
"She was already with Matt (Smith), she knew the Daleks and the TARDIS. Now we have someone who knows very little about the Doctor," explained by Capaldi.
Coleman confirmed the news that Series 9 would be the last where the fans can see her on "Doctor Who." She revealed the reason behind her decision of leaving the show after many years, saying that it would be what is best for the storyline. Coleman also admitted that it was very hard for her to leave "Doctor Who" in another interview with Entertainment Weekly.
"It's a lot more than just a job - the friendships I have with the crew and Peter, it's very hard to say goodbye to it," Coleman said.
Master Herald cited that a "Doctor Who" Christmas special can be expected this year. Capaldi will be seen as the show's present Doctor on the said episode.
