Judging from the trailer for the upcoming film "Doctor Strange," it appears that the Marvel film will be showing audiences a side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe they have not seen before.

And, as "Doctor Strange" actor Mads Mikkelsen recently revealed, the film will be definitely different from anything Marvel Studios has ever come up with.

In an interview with Yahoo! Movies, Mikkelsen, who plays a villain in the highly anticipated Marvel project, spoke about how "Doctor Strange" deviates from all the other films in the MCU. According to the actor, one only has to look at the "Doctor Strange" comic books, which are "quite different" from the other Marvel comics, to figure out that the latest Marvel offering will be quite unexpected. But it still won't be as trippy as the comic books.

"I think that the film will be different from the other [Marvel] films that we've seen, but not as different as the books are, because that was basically the '60s and '70s – it was more like an acid trip," he said.

However, while the "acid trip" elements of the comics may have been somewhat toned down, the film will still reflect the most important features of the source material.

"But you still have it there — you have all the action, all the good ingredients you get in a Marvel film, but it will have a different flavor, that's for sure," Mikkelsen explained.

Meanwhile, magic won't be the only new element "Doctor Strange" is bringing to the MCU. According to Scott Adkins, who also appears in the film, there may be shades of horror in it as well.

"This is going to show that other dimension side," the actor told The Huffington Post. "I'm sure [director] Scott Derrickson's going to bring some of his horror element into it as well."

Apart from Mikkelsen and Adkins, "Doctor Strange" stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Tilda Swinton.

Marvel's "Dr. Strange" hits theaters Nov. 4.
