The Avengers were briefly mentioned in a new promo clip for the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film "Doctor Strange."

"Heroes like the Avengers protect the world from physical dangers," Wong (Benedict Wong), one of the Masters of Mystics Arts, tells Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) in the TV spot. "We safeguard it from more mystical threats," he adds.

While the teaser probably isn't trying to suggest that the Avengers will make an appearance in the film, it will nonetheless be interesting to see how "Doctor Strange" manages to make connections to the characters and events that populate the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

This is particularly important given that Cumberbatch himself has confirmed that his titular character will be teaming up with the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and other MCU denizens in "Avengers: Infinity War" in 2018.

The "Doctor Strange" star confirmed this casting news in a recent interview with Empire. "To get us all together will be quite something," he said. "That's why this character is being introduced, to open up the next chapter. So watch this space to see how that unfolds," he added.

ComicBook.com notes that in "Infinity War," Strange could be revealed to be in possession of the Time Stone, one of the two Infinity Stones that have yet to be revealed in the MCU.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige teased the trippy scenes in "Doctor Strange," saying, "Stan Lee and, in particular, Steve Ditko, who wrote these early comics and who drew these early comics, had an amazing psychedelic style."

According to Feige, the studio's goal for the visual effects portion of the film was to retain the "absurdity and surrealness" of Ditko's comic book frames.

"We hope that is one of the things that's going to set this movie apart," he says.

Fans can now get a glimpse of these trippy visuals in the latest featurette for the film.

"Doctor Strange" drops Friday, Nov. 4.
