'Destiny 2,' 'Destiny' DLC release date news 2016: Game sequel not happening in 2016; More DLC's for 'Destiny' expected this year?

There have still been no confirmed talks regarding the much-anticipated sequel to Bungie's current video game offering, "Destiny." While many fans have become very excited upon hearing the rumored plans for "Destiny 2," it seems that Bungie will be focusing on their present plans for "Destiny," particularly the DLC expansion sets which are expected to be available sometime this year.

According to reports online, the rumors now point to a 2017 release for "Destiny 2," that is if Bungie will be able to handle the workload from their current projects. For now, the game developer company will be focusing first on the list of DLC pack releases scheduled this year.

In an interview with Express, industry expert Doug Creutz has mentioned about the lack of expansion sets or DLC packs on Bungie's current game offering, "Destiny." Therefore, he is expecting that their team will be releasing more content packs for "Destiny" this year.

"Destiny's player base is clearly getting restless for new content, particularly since this is the first time since the launch of the game in 2014 that more than a couple of months have gone by without having a clear roadmap as to what is in the near-term pipeline," Creutz said.

He also talked about the possibility of the fans losing interest in the game even if "Destiny 2" hits the digital markets next year.

"A significant erosion of the game's player base would be a disappointment and a major missed opportunity. While we suspect most players would return for a 2017 Destiny 2, there are no guarantees in this business, particularly since we think many players felt there was an implicit guarantee of regular, meaningful content updates for the game."

Meanwhile, Bungie has recently confirmed the new game update for matchmaking settings for Iron Banner and Skirmish are now available for download.

The April update of "Destiny" has provided the players more things to become busy with. The latest update includes new collectible Chroma items, more weapons available for upgrade and new exciting missions.
