Hit South Korean drama series "Descendants of the Sun" made waves and had everyone talking about its successful run, but it seems like fans will need more time to get over their "DOTS" fever.

It has only been a few days since the show concluded last April 14, but there are already talks of a sequel for the KBS drama. Rumor has it that lead actors Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo will reprise their roles, together with the other main cast members.

In an interview with Yonhap News early this month, executive producer producer Lee Eung-bok addressed the speculations that a sequel for the show is on the table. He mentioned that even though a story can be laid out for another season, it seems impossible to bring the stellar roster of cast members together due to their very tight schedules. "Season 2 would be nice, but I don't know about its possibility," the producer said. "We'd have to keep all the main cast, whose schedules won't be easy to coordinate. We'd also need the two writers again, and that might be hard."

On another note, Lee acknowledged that the military-drama's success can be owed to the actors and writers' excellent work. "The writer wrote well and the actors acted well," he stated. "It was critical that writer Kim Eun-sook, actor Song Joong-ki and actress Song Hye-kyo joined us. The series of events seemed coincidental then, but looking back, it was serendipitous. None of them were our first choice." The producer also expressed his hopes that the success of the show will inspire fellow producers to up the ante and create more shows with the same quality as the said series.

According to Asia Times, "Decendants of the Sun" season 2 might still happen. However, it will likely have a new set of cast members, similar to another popular KBS drama "Iris."
