Derick Dillard Under Fire For Instagram Cat Video
Derick Dillard, member of the Duggar family of "19 Kids and Counting," recently received criticism on social media for a video posted showing him trying to sleigh past a family cat.
In the video, posted by Dillard on Sunday, the 25-year-old reality television star is sledding with other members of the Duggar family, using a cookie sheet as a sled. Duggar tells an orange Tabby cat to "move" before brother-in-law Ben Seewald pushes Dillard down the snowy slope.
Dillard nearly runs into the cat before it springs out of the way. The husband of Jill Duggar captioned the video: "Sledding with friends and family at the Duggar home :-) #smallestsled."
The 25-year-old reality show star, who is expecting his first child with wife Jill, has received criticism for his recent Instagram video from those who argue Dillard was showing cruelty to animals by intentionally trying to run over the cat with his sled.
"Disgrace. How small is your brain that you think it's acceptable to deliberately aim to hurt an innocent animal for fun?" wrote one commenter on Dillard's Instagram.
"Disgusting. I'm sure if that was your pet you wouldn't tolerate that. Completely unacceptable from a 'Christian' family," another user added.
Others have chimed in to defend the Duggar family, with one commenter writing: "People really need to calm down. If there is so much hate and you're hating so much towards a person it's not going to make you a better person."
