'Deadpool 2' news: Sequel in the works; director speaks about current production developments

News confirming a sequel for hit R-rated movie "Deadpool" last week did not shock anyone, as the film raked in a whopping $758.5 million worldwide since its premiere.
Ryan Reynolds has been confirmed to reprise his role as the titular foul-mouthed super hero, with the same creative team to work on the film. Director Tim Miller recently sat down in an exclusive interview where he discussed some key details about the sequel's production.
Miller mentioned that the sequel gives him the perfect opportunity to improve on the original film, saying, "I don't look at Deadpool and think, 'Oh, that's a perfect movie.' I look at it and go, 'Oh, God, there's so much stuff I could do better.' What you don't want to do is all the stupid stuff like 'Oh, now it has to be twice as big because people are going to be bored!' or 'It's going to have three times the villains!'" In terms of casting, there are reports about Cable being in the picture. Deadpool even mentioned it in the movie where he described Cable. "...Amazing character, bionic arm, time travel! We have no idea who we're going to cast yet, but it could be anyone. Just need a big guy with a flat top," as noted by Hall of Fame Magazine.
However, Miller remained tight-lipped since he wanted the script to gel first before even diving in to the casting part. He further stated that they will only learn everything about the character after the script is done, and it will be a wise approach to complete it before matching the role to an actor. As for Vanessa being Copycat, the director cannot confirm or deny the speculation yet. Miller also expressed that if he would have it his way, a subtitle instead of a number would be more fitting to be added to the title. A conclusive premiere date for "Deadpool 2" has yet to be announced.
"Deadpool" Blu-ray DVD will officially be released on May 10.
