'Dead of Summer' season 2 spoilers, news: EP hints 1970s set storyline featuring Deb as counselor; series to explore different eras every season

Freeform's thriller drama "Dead of Summer" received mostly positive reviews for its recently-concluded freshman run, but will it be enough to earn a season renewal? If one thing is for sure, the execs are already talking about a possible season 2 and it will draw inspiration from "Fargo."
"We're very inspired by Fargo, the anthology. People will be connected," executive producer Eddy Kitsis told TV Line. He hinted that season 2 will be set in 1970 and will center on the summer when Deb was a counselor in the camp. Should the series continue for a third season, Kitsis said it will be "set in 2004 where one of these kids - if anyone survives - is now the director."
Co-executive producer Adam Horowitz was also present in the interview and he hopes that the season 1 finale satisfied viewers and resolved all the loose ends in the story. Teasing what lies ahead for the next season, he said: "... there's a bigger story at play that hopefully we go to on and tell more stories from Camp Stillwater throughout the years." He further explained that their goal for every season is to focus on a "different summer at the camp in a different era."
Looking back at how the first season played out, actor Ronen Rubinstein recently caught up with Just Jared Jr. and shared his most favorite scene in the program. "I would have to say the most memorable scene was the seance in episode 6," he said. "It was the longest one scene shoot I have ever experienced. A full 15 hour day for one scene was nuts. The fact that every single visual effect was real, except for the fire, made the experience that much creepier and actually pretty damn terrifying."
Freeform has yet to renew "Dead of Summer" for a second season. More details on the show's fate are expected soon.
