'Daredevil' season 3 release date rumors: Premiere still uncertain, Charlie Cox prepares for 'The Defenders'

The fate of Netflix's hit superhero series "Daredevil" remains in limbo as the production for season 3 has been on hold for an indefinite time.
Showrunners Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez temporarily leave their post in "Daredevil" to head the upcoming Marvel miniseries, "The Defenders." Charlie Cox will also be in the show along with other popular heroes in the Marvel universe, which is probably the reason why fans of Daredevil will have to wait a while before his standalone series returns to the small screen.
In a previous interview with The Independent, Cox admitted that he is still in the dark regarding the show's third season, further explaining that this year will be dedicated to the production of the new superhero series. "What we do know is at the end of this year we're going to be making The Defenders and, of course, Daredevil is very much a part of that foursome," the British actor said. "I have no idea what the storyline is going to be for that show. I'm very excited to see how those world's combine... and interested to see tonally how those shows become one."
Daredevil joins three other Marvel heroes in the upcoming series including Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage. Given each of the characters' strong personalities, fans should look forward to how they will all work together to achieve their common goal of bringing peace. As of this writing, the premiere date for "The Defenders" is unknown, but the production will begin later this year.
Rumor has it that the popular series has been cancelled, but this is far from true since the show quickly garnered a wide following in just the span of two seasons. More details are expected once "The Defenders" wraps up to make way for the production of "Daredevil" season 3.
