Dallas Parents Pull Children Out Of School Amid Ebola Fears

Parents reportedly concerned about the spread of Ebola in Dallas, Texas have removed their children from school, a local media outlet reports.
Parents reportedly rushed to pull their children after local schools after learning that another student may have had contact with the man who recently tested positive for Ebola after arriving in the U.S. from Liberia. The four children who reportedly had contact with the infected man were pulled out of school and are in isolation, but parents are still concerned that their child will be exposed to the virus.
According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, parents are reportedly pulling their children out of L.L. Hotchkiss Elementary School, where one of the children who had contact with the infected man attended.
Although some parents are pulling their children out of school, Dallas Superintendent Mike Miles told the local media outlet that because none of the children were showing symptoms while at school, he feels confident that no other children have been infected.
"Since none of the students had symptoms, I'm pretty confident that none of the kids were exposed," Miles said. Regardless, the school district has dispatched extra counselors and health workers to local schools to monitor children for symptoms.
"That's one of the reasons we're here is we don't want misinformation getting out there," Miles said. "We found out this morning and then we had a press conference."
The man infected with the Ebola virus has reportedly been placed in a strict isolation unit in Dallas. A hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii announced Thursday that it was also testing a patient for Ebola after the person reportedly exhibited symptoms that come with the virus.
