'Cyberpunk 2077' release date news update: CD Projekt Red not expected to launch new game until 2017
CD Projekt Red has been very secretive about their much anticipated new game offering, "Cyberpunk 2077." However, as much as the game studio would want to release the game very soon, fans should not expect the game to be released anytime this year. In fact, fans would already be very lucky if "Cyberpunk 2077" arrives in 2017.

According to the Bitbag, "Cyberpunk 2077" is not expected to be launched anytime soon with the game developer company still has a lot of things to do with their latest game projects. Also, CD Projekt RED visual effects artist Jose Teixeria said in an interview with iDigital Times that the development of "Cyberpunk 2077" is still at the "very early stage."
One thing that is having their game studio preoccupied is "The Witcher 3" which is expected to have a new DLC pack release this year. Teixeria said that CD Projekt Red is just beginning to shift its focus from "The Witcher" game series to "Cyberpunk 2077," while mentioning that fans have long been requesting them to start working on their new project. Also, before starting off with "Cyberpunk 2077," the studio must first renovate their existing game engines to develop the new game.
Meanwhile, the studio's attention will soon shift away from "The Witcher 3" to "Cyberpunk 2077" as the former is expected to end the story of its main character, Geralt.
"To be honest, the politically correct answer is yes, it is sad (to finish Geralt's story). But the truth is that everyone is so insanely pumped about working on the next project, Cyberpunk 2077. We could've made a million expansions for The Witcher because there's so many stories in that world but everyone is crazy excited about Cyberpunk 2077," Teixeira said.
"The most important thing that's happening at the moment is that the programmers are taking the feedback we gave them from working on The Witcher. As cliche as it sounds, it was a big learning experience. The programmers are updating our software quite drastically."
