'Criminal Minds' season 12 spoilers, plot news: EP weighs in on Shemar Moore's replacement and Jane Lynch's return, renewal to be confirmed on May 10?

The eleventh season of police procedural drama "Criminal Minds" came to a close yesterday, and it ended with an intriguing twist. Last night's finale was nothing short of interesting as Hotch faced conspiracy charges and apprehended by SWAT. The Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) was shocked about what happened, so they do everything to clear Hotch's name. It did not take them long to realize that it was a setup, and that there is a more alarming motive behind it.
To date, CBS has not yet announced a season 12 order for the show which makes fans concerned. A fan asked co-executive producer Harry Bring via Twitter why CBS already renewed most of its veteran shows, but there's no word on "Criminal Minds." Apparently, discussions this year has been more complicated than the previous ones. "Contract negotiations between ABC Studios and CBS Network. Difficult dealings," Bring replied. He also mentioned that fans will have to wait until May 10 for the renewal confirmation from the network.
Shemar Moore's heartbreaking departure is definitely one of the major highlights of season 11, and fans have been wondering if there is any update on his replacement. Showrunner Erica Messer confirmed that they will start discussing the cast around June, since they still haven't decided who will be the latest addition to the team. "We don't want a shrinking cast," she told TV Guide. "We want to have people in the field. Given that we have to go out and catch unsubs of the week and these serial killers out there, it feels like we can't be an agent down this year. We have to be full-steam ahead. I just don't know who that is or what it might be yet."
Meanwhile, Reid mentioned Diana again which fuels speculations that Jane Lynch will be back for season 12. "Oh, my God! I think the stars are aligning!" Messer exclaimed. "We might actually be able to get her. Fingers crossed! [Reid and Diana] are going on vacation together, so she's clearly doing better, so it'd be great to actually see her... Hopefully we can make it happen. I would love, really more than anything, if we could get her this year. There are so many stories we could tell with Jane. I really am hopeful."
