'Criminal Minds' season 12 spoilers, news: BAU re-opens 30-year-old case in episode 6, fans protest Thomas Gibson's dismissal

The BAU investigates a 30-year-old unsolved case that resurfaces after the disappearance of three children in the upcoming episode of the CBS cop drama "Criminal Minds" season 12.
Titled "Elliott's Pond," next week's episode will see the team re-open an old case. According to the official synopsis for episode 6, the BAU looks into an incident that involves the sudden disappearance of three children who were just riding their bikes. It turns out that the same incident happened thirty years ago, prompting the team to open a similar unsolved case
which might finally have answers. Series star Matthew Gray Gubler, who plays the role of Dr. Spencer Reid in the show, directed the episode.
On tonight's episode, Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness) and Alvez's (Adam Rodriguez) relationship is no longer rough around the edges. After Garcia learned that Roxy is Alvez's (Adam Rodriguez) dog and not his girlfriend, she appears to be strongly infatuated with his four-legged friend. In the latest sneak peek for episode 5, she splurges on a few goodies for Roxy, and Alvez is clearly surprised with her gifts. The promo clip shows Alvez grateful but slightly taken aback by the numerous presents. "You paused," she says. "You don't like it."
Meanwhile, fans are reportedly staging a Twitter protest starting tonight. Using the #NoHotchNoWatch hashtag, most fans have agreed that they won't be watching the show starting tonight until the actor is re-hired. Gibson now joins his former cast members who were suddenly fired from the show, including Rachel Nichols, Jeanne Tripplehorn and A.J. Cook.
For the uninitiated, Cook was fired back in 2011 due to budget cuts, but his fans fought for his return. Since the fan protest to bring Cook back was a success, Gibson's fans are still hoping for their favorite cast member to be re-hired.
Keep tuning in to "Criminal Minds" season 12 which airs every Wednesday night at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
