'Criminal Minds' season 12 episode 12 spoilers: BAU deals with relationship troubles in 'A Good Husband'
The dangers of a bad romance are front and center in the next episode of "Criminal Minds," and since Jane Lynch does not seem to be in the cast to play Diana Reid, one can't help but wonder what Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) has decided to do with his mother.
Titled "A Good Husband," the episode features multiple cases of murder where all the victims are male and are so damaged that they can hardly be identified. The Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) team is called in to investigate and uncover the motivations behind these deaths. Could it be a crime of passion so intense that the victims are mauled and marred beyond recognition? Or could it be the work of a serial killer with a statement to make against men?
The official synopsis does not give away any more clues. However, the trailer for the upcoming episode seems to hint at a possible reason as to why the victims cannot be identified through a scene that shows a house burned to its very foundations. Could this killer be burning his or her victims down to intentionally keep them from being identified, or could this purely be an act of spite?
In another scene, Dr. Reid observes that the unknown suspect (unsub) seems to be targeting men who are having relationship troubles. Has Dr. Reid read the killer's intentions right, or is there a much deeper and more personal reason behind all the killings?
Speaking of Dr. Reid, has he eventually decided to get his mother admitted to an assisted care facility, or is Diana still at home with a much better caregiver? Will his concerns about his mother eventually cause him real trouble at work, and if and when it does, what will he decide to do about it?
Things are apparently not going so well with the BAU's resident genius since the following episode 13 ominously titled "Spencer" will give his team enough cause to enlist the services of the International Response Team when someone from the team, most probably Dr. Reid himself, gets in trouble in Mexico.
"Criminal Minds" season 12 episode 12 airs on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 9 p.m. EST on CBS, while episode 13 airs the following week on Feb. 15.
