The CW's spirited comedy series "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" is all set to return, and the upcoming sophomore season will explore Rebecca (Rachel Bloom) as she continues to search for love.

Titled "Where is Josh's Friend," season 2 kicks off with Rebecca still convinced Josh (Vincent Rodriguez III) is in love with her, while Josh's pal Greg (Santino Fontana) is nowhere to be found. Elsewhere, Paula (Donna Lynne Champlin) starts to realize what led her to be obsessed with Rebecca's love life, while Darryl (Pete Gardner) and White Josh (guest star David Hull) attempt to adjust to their new relationship.

Back in season 1, Rebecca also fooled around with Greg when she was not busy obsessing over Josh. He will be missing in season 2 episode 1, but it will be revealed that he is actually hiding from Rebecca. It turns out that he is also keeping a huge secret from her, and it will consume plenty of his focus and time.

Undeniably, the magic of "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" lies behind the show's quirky and entertaining musical performances. According to the show's costume designer Melina Root, Bloom and her co-creators prepared many interesting numbers this season.

"Rachel will usually have references, whether it's a stage musical or a music video," she told Racked. "We never copy it or parody it directly, but we take inspiration from it. At the beginning of this season, she does a whole heartbroken number that's inspired by Beyoncé's 'Lemonade.'"

Root added that there will be more interesting performances from Rebecca fans should look forward to."We're doing a whole 'Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend,' Marilyn Monroe-inspired number," she revealed. "And we just made a triceratops costume! It's for an episode where they go to this Burning Man/Electric Daisy Carnival-type festival."

The second season of "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" premieres on Friday, Oct. 21 at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
