The first season of American musical-comedy "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" might have traveled a long and winding road, but its freshman run surely ended on a positive note. The show was initially developed for Showtime, but the network decided to drop it last February. Fortunately, The CW gave the show another shot and now, the series is up for a season 2.

In an interview with Los Angeles Times, showrunner Aline Brosh McKenna confirmed that the writers will start working on the story next month. The plot will pick up on the events following Rebecca's revelation on why she moved to West Covina, which McKenna describes to be an interesting part of the story.

Meanwhile, McKenna also caught up with Deadline where she discussed what fans should look forward to next season. "The tone will be the same and we're still trying to explore all of these relationships and kind of deepen them – so you will see that in the second season. You know, our feeling is Rebecca's predicament is always everyone's predicament. So in the first season we were exploring some of the lies that she has told herself to survive. And, everyone that she touches sort of goes through a similar thing where they have to examine their own lives and the lies that they told themselves," the EP shared. She also mentioned that Rebecca will continue to experience an identity crisis, which will affect the other characters as well.

Speaking of characters, the showrunner hinted of new characters coming on board along with the beloved characters from the first season. "Well, Audra Levine's coming back, who was a lawyer at Rebecca's old New York law firm. Rebecca's mom, played by Tovah Feldshuh, is coming back. Those are two that we know for sure. We're working on story lines for both of them," McKenna confirmed.

The CW has yet to announce a definitive premiere date for "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" season 2, but the show is confirmed to be in its early stages of production.
